Why a Holistic Approach

You have probably heard the saying, You can't out train a bad diet.  This is so true.  Good quality nutrition is so important.  Counting macro and micro nutrients will only get you so far if your diet consists of processed protein bars, low quality animal protein and highly processed energy drinks.  Holistic nutrition focuses on the Quality of the food you are consuming, the cleanliness of your hydration source and lifestyle choices that either serve or detract from your health and performance.

Everything is connected

Holistic nutrition is a comprehensive approach to eating and nourishing the body that recognizes the interconnectedness of the mind, body and soul.  It goes beyond focusing solely on individual nutrients or calories and takes into account the unique needs, lifestyle and environment of each individual.  What are your sources of stress?  How much sleep do you get a night?  Do you recognize and address stress to minimize its impacts on your health?  What makes you happy?  Are you overwhelmed?  What recovery tools do you utilize, if any?  A holistic approach involves a personalized nutrition and lifestyle plan that takes into consideration a person's physical health, emotional well-being and environmental sustainability.

Food is Medicine

Let me start by saying, "a packaged, ultra-processed protein bar" is not food. Holistic nutrition is all about eating healthy food as close to its natural state as possible for optimum health and well-being.  Hallmarks of holistic nutrition include unrefined, unprocessed, organic and locally grown whole foods.  Yes, this does include animal proteins that are grass fed, grass finished and organic.

Stress and Emotion

Stress and negative emotions can ultimately lead to fatigue, pain, inflammation, and scar tissue.  A holistic approach seeks ways to reduce pain and negative emotions for vibrant health.
